Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) conducts various examinations throughout the year for the recruitment of Group ‘B’ & ‘C’ officers. The commission conducts the Combined Competitive Exam (CCE) for the appointment of officers for various posts under the Assam government.

As per the new rules of APSC (Amendment) Rules, 2019, the commission divides the whole recruitment drive into three exams – Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Personal Interview. The prelims of the APSC CCE Exam consist of objective-based questions containing a total of 400 marks and the candidates clearing the prelims will be shortlisted for the mains exam.

APSC 2022 Exam Selection Process

The candidates who will clear the preliminary examination will be called for the mains exam.

• The language papers in the mains exam are of qualifying nature and the candidates have to score minimum qualifying marks in those papers to appear for the personal interview.
• The papers of the candidates qualifying in the language papers will be checked and a merit list will be made on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the mains written exam.
• Candidates clearing the mains examination will be shortlisted for the personal interview round that consists of a total of 275 marks.
• The final merit list and selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of their total marks in the mains written exam (Except language papers) and their performance in the personal interview round.

APSC 2022 Syllabus

APSC Prelims Exam Syllabus

The preliminary exam of APSC CCE contains two papers of general studies each containing 100 objective-type questions. The topics on which the questions are asked in the APSC CCE Prelims are provided in the table below.

The APSC CCE Mains Exam consists of a total of 8 papers, out of which 2 are of qualifying nature. The first paper of the APSC Mains exam consists of essay writing.

• This section is descriptive in nature in which the candidate has to write an essay in the language he/she has chosen while filling the form.
• The candidate is required to write an essay on a specific topic in the language of the candidate’s choice

APSC Mains Exam Qualifying Papers:

If these marks are not counted only Passing is mandatory. For both Paper A and Paper B, the Commission decides on Minimum Qualifying Marks.

Paper-A

This section will ask questions on language which the candidate has selected from Assamese/Bengali/Bodo and the questions will carry 300 marks. Questions will be asked based on:

• Comprehension of given passages.
• Precis Writing
• Usage and Vocabulary.
• Short Essay
• Translation i.e. English to the Indian language and vice versa.

Paper-B

The aim of the paper is to test the candidates’ ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly, in English and will carry 300 marks.

• Comprehension of given passages.
• Precis Writing
• Usage and Vocabulary.
• Short Essay.

After qualifying the Prelims and Mains Exam, candidates will be called for the Personality test for the final selection. The final APSC Cut off list will be made on the basis of performance Mains Exam and Personality Test.
