SSC GD Constable Exam Pattern 2023
Candidates who are applying for the SSC GD Exam need to be well-versed in the hiring procedure. Candidates must be conversant with both the SSC GD exam pattern and the SSC GD syllabus in order to pass the test. There are four steps to the SSC GD Constable recruitment process –
- Compute-Based Examination (CBE)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
It is to be noted that:
- In most cases, applicants from all around India can only apply for the exam online.
- The only two languages used for the computer-based examination (CBE) are English and Hindi.
- The exam includes four sections and a total of 100 questions.
- The General Duty exam’s online examination does not deduct points for any incorrect answers.
- In the SSC GD online test, 0.25 of the score will be subtracted for each incorrect response.
- There is a 90-minute time restriction for the SSC GD Constable Tier I test.
- A 90-minute time limit applies to the SSC GD Constable Tier I exam.
Computer-Based Examination (CBE): This online test includes objective-type questions that are thoroughly detailed below within the article’s section on the syllabus. According to the SSC GD Exam Pattern, there are four sections:

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are the major part of every Objective-type examination. Only two languages—English and Hindi—are used for the Computer Based Examination (CBE).
All applicants must be aware that SSC is setting the minimal cut-off score for the computer-based exam.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who pass the CBE are shortlisted to participate in the PET/PST that the Commission is conducting. Candidates who pass the PET/ PST and are determined to be eligible based on the height criteria are allowed to take the PET (race), which is followed by a biometric/technology-aided identification exam. Only after candidates have won the PET (race) before PST, which is held by the CAPFs PET/ PST Boards, is the eligibility for any age, height, and chest measurement relaxation examined.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The criteria to be followed for this test –
- For Male candidates: Race 5 km in 24 minutes
- For Female candidates: 1.6 km in 8 ½ minutes
For the Race test, the candidates of the Ladakh Region need to follow the below criteria –
- Male: Race 1 Mile in 6 ½ minutes
- Female: 800 metres in 4 minutes
- Pregnant women are disqualified from taking this test.
- Ex-Servicemen candidates shortlisted in the CBE need to appear in PET/PST stage for recording measurement of the chest, height and weight only. They are exempted from taking the PET. However, they need to qualify for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
Physical Standard Test (PST): Three criteria are used in this test for examining the candidates’ physical standards:
Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Shortlisted candidates for the DME are those who pass the PET and PST. The Medical Boards established by the CAPFs conduct medical examinations of the chosen applicants to determine their physical and medical fitness based on the following criteria:
- Eyesight
- Medical Fitness
