Any eligible candidate, who aspires to join State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer or Clerk, is required to register online for the Recruitment Process. The examination will be held in two phases preliminary and main. Candidates who will qualify for preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for the Main examination and shortlisted candidates in the main examination will subsequently be called for a Group Exercises & Interview.

The State Bank of India (SBI) conducts the SBI bank P.O exam to shortlist eligible Indian citizens for the post of Probationary Officers (P.O.), who may be posted across the country.
Probationary officers will be on probation for two years, during which they will be given intensive training. As they near the end of the program they will have to appear for screening. Those who are able to attain the subjected standards may be confirmed and posted in a higher grade (Officer Middle Management Grade Scale II), while others who have qualified but have failed to attain the higher standards will be confirmed as Officer Junior Management Scale Grade I.
